Our Privacy Policy

The only personal data collection being done on this website, is from people leaving a comment, and only for the purpose outlined below, to check if the comment is actually from a person, or is the dreaded SPAM, which we ALL hate.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address, and browser user agent string, to help spam detection.  And, only for spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, it will be visible to the public.

Media

HELPFUL HINT, which I HIGHLY ADVICE YOU TO ABIDE BY, FOR ALL PICTURES YOU EVER UPLOAD TO THE INTERNET, ON ANY SITE:  If you upload images to this website, in your comments, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download, and extract, any location data from images on the website.  That is part of the dark side of the internet.  Although this may be rare, it happens.

You can remove the GPS data from your picture in a few ways.  The easiest way is in the settings of your camera, set it up to NOT include GPS data on any picture taken….problem solved.  But, if you don’t want to do that, Norton has a great webpage with all of the information on how to do this:

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may be asked if you want to “opt-in” to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. This is for your convenience only, so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.  This information will not be used in any other way, than for the convenience noted above, under “How long we retain your data”.

Links to other websites

Some of my pages will include links to other websites, that have similar information you may be interested in.  This is purely to help you reduce your research, because I’ve done so much research already, and I want to share it with my customers, and friends, that visit this website.

These links will redirect you away from my website, to someone else’s website.  Once you leave my website, you will be under the Privacy Policies of the new website you are visiting.  I just want you to be aware of this, because these other websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account with that website, and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with:

Absolutely no one!

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment, and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize, and approve, any follow-up comments.  Currently I have the comments section set up so that I have to approve any comment before letting it appear live on my website.  This is so I can preview the comments, and make sure that they are not the dreaded SPAM, or contain language not suitable for my customers, of whom many, I hope, will be children.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments on any of my tutorials, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service, other than that, we do not send your data anywhere.  If this changes, so will this Privacy Policy section.

Your contact information

We will never share your contact information with anyone, ever.  If this policy changes, for whatever reason, this section will be updated.
